VisitBritain, the official British Tourist Authority, has a longstanding relationship with Digital Visitor.
In 2008, Digital Visitor was the official supplier of social media, video production and user generated content (UGC) for the tourist board and ever since, they have been leading the way in social media marketing for destination management organisations and national tourism boards.
For the past 2 years, social media has played a key part in VisitBritain’s marketing strategy and they have continued to play a very active role in this forum to really make the most of social media and user generated content, wining numerous awards and accolades for their online marketing efforts.
Using our application, VisitBritain’s online visitors were able to share their experiences of Britain by uploading photos, videos and comments – providing other website visitors with rich media content and the trustworthy tourist information they now search for.
In a growing effort to increase the variety and amount of user generated content displayed on their website, the VisitBritain national social media initiative was born. The initiative was the first of its kind in the world and entails that any regional or national tourist boards in the UK, along with individual tourism providers and individual visitor attractions who also signed up to use our technology, gain greater exposure as each review added to their website was automatically displayed on their local or regional tourist board site, VisitEngland and VisitBritain–assisting in promoting Britain, whilst also showcasing their attraction or destination to a worldwide audience.
VisitBritain has been dedicated to providing potential visitors with relevant user generated experiences to showcase the wonderful experiences Britain has to offer the overseas visitor. Using our technology, they have been able to gather a rich source of photos, videos and reviews of destinations from all around Britain.
VisitBritain recognises that social media has become crucial in the way families decide which holiday to go on, and so syndication and aggregation are enabled within the site so that all content is available across a wide range of travel sites and blogs.
